The reverse discrimination New Haven case that analysts are currently following is famous for one more interesting fact as well. It has often been discussed for the last couple of weeks that Appeals Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor, who was one of the judges at the appellate level who decided on that case, is at the top of many published lists of likely Obama [U.S. Supreme Court] nominees. She decided the case in favor of the City of New Haven or in other words – against the firefighters.
In my opinion, that coincidence is somewhat speculated. I feel that a closest probability to that connection is that through her decision on that case Judge Sotomayor is looking for the opportunity to be considered for that nomination, without being absolutely sure whether the Obama administration will like that decision. However, according to the New Haven Register, the Obama administration is siding mainly with the city which further intensifies the critics’ association in regard to that discussion. It is too early to tell what the reality is but it is certain that a Judge Sotomayor’s possible nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court will not be left unnoticed.
