Jonah Goldberg’s misinterpretations on the Obama campaign

Conservative analyst Jonah Goldberg’s article The Adventures of Captain America emphasize on criticizing President Barack Obama for unveiling “what many believe will be his new reelection theme: Country first.” Mr. Goldberg quoted Mr. Obama as saying that “There is nothing that we’re facing that we can’t solve with some spirit of ‘America first’” and claimed that the latter “borrowed” it from “1930s isolationists and the presidential campaigns of Patrick Buchanan,” probably trying to make the nowadays economic situation look like the 1930s during the Great Depression in the eyes of the reader. In this short article I will point out three misinterpretations in Jonah Goldberg’s article regardless of whether or not they were done on purpose. Continue reading
